A Christmas-related pledge drive by Mitchell radio stations KMIT-KOOL 98 is raising money for the Salvation Army and the Angel Tree program.
The pledge drive began Wednesday and continues today until 5 p.m.
As of midday Thursday, approximately $14,000 had been raised. The event began seven years ago.
More than 400 children already are on the Angel Tree list for 2012, according to organizers. Many of those children receive little else without this program, and many simply seek simple necessities such as gloves, jackets, blankets and dolls.
Prior to Christmas, members of the Dakota Wesleyan University athletic teams will assist the Salvation Army in purchasing and wrapping the gifts.
Any funds that remain after purchasing gifts will be channeled to the Salvation Army food pantry.
To make a pledge, KMIT listeners may call 996-9667 and KOOL 98 listeners may call 996-1100.
