Things to remember
GROUP TO MEET FOR BREAKFAST: Former Methodist Hospital employees will meet at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at James Valley Community Center, Mitchell.
CHURCH PLANS COOKIE WALK: “Christmas Cookie Walk” will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at New Home Lutheran Church, Mitchell.
There will be homemade cookies, rosettes, lefse and candy for sale. Storm date is Sunday, Dec. 9. Funds are provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
HEGG BROTHERS IN CONCERT DEC. 11: Holiday Jam with the Hegg Brothers will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Pepsi-Cola Theatre for the Performing Arts, Mitchell.
Tickets are $20 for ACT members and $25 for non-members and are available at the theatre.

Fast facts
In 2011, there were 110 highway fatalities, a decrease of 30. Of those 110 deaths, 37 were alcohol-related, according to the 2012-2013 SDDOT fact book.
Today in local history
The proposed 14.5 million building project at Mitchell Technical Institute was among projects discussed at the state Board of Education meeting on this date in 2010.
The project to build the fourth building at the MTI south campus was discussed as part of a schedule of fee increases approved by the board.
