Mitchell native Jordan Miller is leading the Southwest Minnesota State University men’s basketball team at 13.1 points per game.
Mitchell native Jordan Miller is leading the Southwest Minnesota State University men’s basketball team at 13.1 points per game.
The senior has started all seven games for the Mustangs (3-4) this season. Miller is averaging 6.4 rebounds and has 20 assists this season. He has led the team in scoring in four of seven games.
Miller and SMSU hosts the University of Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game in Marshall, Minn.
n In the University of Sioux Falls’ 56-42 win over Dakota State Saturday, Parkston native David Maxwell scored five points to help keep the Cougars’ record unbeaten this season.
USF (4-0) is getting 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game from Maxwell.
Platte native Keith Cutler is averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds off the bench for the Cougars, who begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at 7 p.m. Saturday against Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn.
n Briar Cliff’s Kela Cihak, an Avon High School graduate, is averaging 8.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season.
Cihak and the Chargers are 3-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference this season and 7-0 overall. The team is ranked No. 5 in the nation.
n Winner native Jayd Docken is 3-2 on the season for the Augustana wrestling team.
Docken (197) is a redshirt sophomore who took fourth place at the Holiday Inn Open at the University of Nebraska Kearney on Nov. 17. Augustana is back in action Saturday at the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Dragon Open.
