SIOUX FALLS (AP) — The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks is encouraging hunters to register for special winter depredation hunts of nuisance species.
Applicants are placed in a pool of hunters who can be called if landowners in their area are having problems with wild game getting into livestock feed.
Registration for potential seasons for deer, antelope and turkey opens Saturday. If a depredation hunt is authorized, participants are selected by random drawing.
Keith Fisk with the agency’s wildlife damage program says hunters would need to be able to be at the hunt location within a day or two.
