BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED: LifeServe Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Mitchell draw site, 1401 N. Main St., Mitchell. For information call 800-287-4903.

ACT CHRISTMAS MUSICAL TO OPEN: “White Christmas,” by Irving Berlin, an Area Community Theatre production, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 7 and 8 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 and 9, at the Pepsi-Cola Theatre for the Performing Arts, Mitchell.

Tickets are $12 and $14 and available at the theatre. For information call 996-9137.

FRIEND DE COUP UP WITH SHOW PLANNED: Extraordinary Merry Christmas Up with Show 2012 Friend de Coup production will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1, at the Mitchell High School Auditorium, Mitchell.

Today in local history

On this date in 2011, the City of Mitchell was considering ending plans to participate in a joint venture with Avera Queen of Peace and Dakota Wesleyan University for a wellness center. The city officials had started preliminary consideration of a renovation and expansion plan of the Recreation Center including a large indoor aquatic center.
