Six wrestlers place for Tigers at Augsburg Open

MINNEAPOLIS — The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team had six members place at the Augsburg Open Saturday in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team had six members place at the Augsburg Open Saturday in Minneapolis.

Freshman Caleb Heiberger went 3-1 on the day and won the consolation title match in the 157-pound Gold Division. He pinned his opponent in 4:51 in his final match.

Sophomore Kyle Gerlach also won the consolation title but in the 165-pound Silver Division. Gerlach won by a 3-0 decision and went 3-1 in the tournament.

Junior Ryan Roach took sixth in the 165-pound Gold Division, going 1-2 on the day. Sophomore Trever DeVestern went 2-1 and pinned his opponent in 2:35 to give him a fifth-place finish in the 157-pound Gold Division.

Sophomore Ross Hoksbergen took fourth place in the 197-pound Silver Division and went 1-2 on the day and redshirt freshman Mito Mendivil went 1-2 and placed third in the 157-pound Bronze Division.

The Tigers wrestle their first conference dual of the season against Morningside College Nov. 29 in Sioux City, Iowa.
