SIOUX FALLS (AP) — The South Dakota Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner committee has donated nearly $4,000 to the family of a trooper injured last month while trying to make a traffic stop.
Thirty-four-year-old Andrew Steen was injured after he was run over by a suspect on Oct. 17.
During the Sioux Falls dinner Wednesday night, committee members presented a $2,000 check to Steen’s parents, Trish and Dan.
The Steens also received all tips collected at the dinner bar, which totaled $1,950.
Trish Steen says the family is overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and prayers.
Authorities say Rachel Coleman hit Steen with her vehicle during a chase before Steen and others fired at her.
Coleman faces several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault against an officer.
