Local celebrities to bag, carry groceries to fight cancer

Local celebrities will bag and carry groceries and pump gas and wash windows at Mitchell businesses.

Grocers Fight Cancer Day at County Fair Food Store is set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Local celebrities will bag and carry groceries at the main store. Additional volunteers will pump gas and wash windows at the Food and Fuel C-Store from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition there will be free doughnuts and coffee served to cancer survivors and their caregivers from 9 a.m. to noon. DWU nursing students will be on hand to take blood pressures from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Receive nutritional health information provided by Avera Queen of Peace Nutrition Services Department and check out the new Dr. Oz Anti-Cancer Shopping List.

A percentage of the day’s receipts will be donated to the Davison County Unit of the American Cancer Society to support, research, education advocacy and direct patient services.
