MADISON — Dakota Wesleyan University’s Jalen Voss had 17 points and 14 rebounds in a 68-64 loss to Dakota State in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday.
Four other players were in double-digit scoring figures for the Tigers, who dropped their second straight game after opening the season with back-to-back victories. Bo LaCroix had 11 points and Carde Pennington, Danny Maman and Aireus Stephenson each had 10 points.
Wesleyan, which trailed 39-31 at halftime, shot 46 percent from the field and outrebounded DSU 43-37. The Tigers were 10-of-20 from the free-throw line and 4-of-14 from behind the 3-point line.
“I think we could’ve helped ourselves out at the free throw line and coming up with those lose ball situations at the defensive end of the floor,” DWU head coach Shane Murphy said. “Those two key areas were critical in our loss.”
Dakota Wesleyan (2-2) plays its first Great Plains Athletic Conference game of the year Saturday, when it travels to Sioux City, Iowa. The Tigers play at 4 p.m. against Briar Cliff.
