Kernels to play Washington in first round of state volleyball tournament
With Mitchell’s straight-set win over Sturgis Friday, it qualified for its third straight state high school volleyball tournament.

On Saturday, the Kernels found out they will be the fifth seed at state, which starts Thursday in Rapid City.
Mitchell’s first-round opponent will be Sioux Falls Washington. The game will be at 1:45 Mountain time.
Other Thursday first-round pairings include Sioux Falls O’Gorman against Watertown, noon; Sioux Falls Roosevelt vs. Huron, 6 p.m.; and Aberdeen Central vs. Rapid City Stevens, 7:45 p.m.
