Around two-thirds of registered voters in Davison County cast ballots in Tuesday’s election.

Turnout was 65.14 percent, according to Davison County Auditor Susan Kiepke. There were 8,087 votes cast, and there are 12,414 registered voters in the county. The Secretary of State’s website lists the same number of votes cast, but reports 11,653 registered voters in the county, which equates to a 69.4 percent turnout. It was unclear which figure was correct.

About 2,500 of the votes were cast by early voters. That is “by far” the largest total of early votes in county history, Kiepke said.

The total could increase slightly, Kiepke said. Six provisional votes were cast, but since it’s unclear if the people were legally registered, those votes remain on hold.
