Brookings man arrested on drug charges

A Brookings man was arrested Oct. 25 after drugs were allegedly found in his possession when he was brought to jail in Mitchell for a detox hold.

A Brookings man was arrested Oct. 25 after drugs were allegedly found in his possession when he was brought to jail in Mitchell for a detox hold.

Brian Egeberg, 29, was taken into custody after police allegedly found him intoxicated and walking in a ditch in the rain and snow in Mitchell. He was taken to the jail at the Davison County Public Safety Center for a detox hold, where a metal pipe with burnt marijuana residue and a small white pill were allegedly found in his pocket.

Egeberg faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for possession of a controlled substance, a felony. He is also charged with possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and ingesting, all misdemeanors.
