Local runners place in Junior Olympic meet
ABERDEEN — Five local runners placed during the United States of America Track & Field’s Junior Olympic Cross Country meet Saturday in Aberdeen.
ABERDEEN — Five local runners placed during the United States of America Track & Field’s Junior Olympic Cross Country meet Saturday in Aberdeen.
Eight-year-old Tyler Loecker took third place in the Sub-Bantam Boys’ 2K race with a time of 9 minutes, 41 seconds.
Caleb Larson and Josh Loecker competed in the Youth Boys’ 4K race. Larson finished fifth in 15 minutes, 22 seconds, and Josh Loecker was seventh in 15 minutes, 42 seconds.
Riley Cowins placed second in the Intermediate Boys’ 5K race with a time of 18 minutes, 56 seconds, and Emily Hanson took second place in the Intermediate Girls’ 5K race in 22 minutes, 55 seconds.
The meet was the championships for the Dakota Association, which includes South Dakota and North Dakota.
Age groups were based on two-year intervals and top 10 finishers qualify to participate in the national meet, which is Dec. 8 in Albuquerque, N.M.
