DWU men, women place 10th at cross country conference meet

McCOOK LAKE — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s cross country teams each took 10th place at the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday.

McCOOK LAKE — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s cross country teams each took 10th place at the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday.

On the men’s side, DWU’s Justin Brueggemann was the team’s top finisher at 53rd place with a time of 27 minutes, 6.01 seconds.

Also competing for the Tigers were Trace Tjeerdsma (27:37.06, 64th); Andrew Hernandez (28:37.59, 80th); Jeff Sahli (28:41.47, 84th); Michael Claar (29:24.23, 86th); and David Elliot (29:30.16, 87th).

The Concordia men took the team title.

Freshman Haley Brunke was DWU’s top finisher in the women’s race at 36th place, recording a time of 19:14.02. Skylar Forgey (20:09.81, 64th); Nicole Court-Menendez (21:40.71, 84th); Heather Banister (22:35.13, 88th); and Jamie Geho (22:58.33, 91st) also competed for the Tigers.

Concordia’s Sarah Kortze won the women’s race with a time of 17:11.26. The Dordt women claimed the team championship.
