Heyden scores 16 to lead DWU women

Four Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball players scored in double figures, leading to an 85-28 win over Oglala Lakota College Saturday at the Fulton State Bank Classic at the Corn Palace.

Skyler Heyden was 5-of-7 from the floor and hit made all four of her free throws for 16 points to lead the Tigers, who are 2-0 on the season.

Amanda Hart knocked down 3 of 8 3-pointers for 11 points and Celeste Beck and Katie Johnson each had 10 points.

Wesleyan shot 46 percent from the field and was 8-of-24 from behind the 3-point line. The Tigers, who led 44-13 at halftime, also won the rebounding battle 45-31. Katelynn Runge had seven rebounds to lead the Tigers on the boards.

DWU hosts York College in a nonconference game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace in its next action.
