WESSINGTON SPRINGS —Drew Kraft, of Wessington Springs, has been named to the Summit League Cross Country Academic All-League team.

The South Dakota State University sophomore, who double majors in agricultural economics and mathematics, boasts a 3.84 GPA in the class room and ran a season 26:05.95 to earn first team all- league honors.

Kraft is one of nine men to be voted to the academic all-league team and the only Jackrabbit to make the team on the men’s or women’s sides.

In order to be eligible for the academic all-league team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the 4.0 scale, complete one full academic year at current institution and compete in 50 percent of team competitions.

DWU falls to No. 1-ranked Hastings in GPAC tourney

HASTINGS, Neb. — The No. 8-seeded Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team lost to No. 1 Hastings College 3-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament Thursday.

With the loss, the Tigers are finished with the season and have a record of 5-12-2.

Hastings scored all three of its goals in the second half, and Jordan Green scored all three goals.

DWU had two shots on goal to Hastings’ 12. Alex Nelson made nine saves in the loss.

YANKTON — The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team recorded its seventh win of the season after defeating Mount Marty College in straights sets Thursday night.
