LETTER: Missing something when it comes to stolen fine art

I recently noticed an article which referred to an auction of art at London, England. The amazing price of $34 million was paid for a painting.

To the Editor:

I recently noticed an article which referred to an auction of art at London, England. The amazing price of $34 million was paid for a painting. A picture which was purported to be of the painting was included with the article. It appeared to be nothing more than dabs and splotches of paint spread upon a canvas and was not a picture in any sense. Are we missing something here? Has art gone by the way? Rembrandt and great painters such as he presented pictures. Am I missing something here? Comments appreciated.
