$12,000 raised for injured state trooper

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A chain of restaurants in Sioux Falls has raised more than $12,000 for a trooper injured while trying to make a traffic stop.

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A chain of restaurants in Sioux Falls has raised more than $12,000 for a trooper injured while trying to make a traffic stop.

Taco John’s restaurants raised more than $9,200 during a four-hour fundraiser Monday morning for officer Andrew Steen. Thrivent Financial agreed to match $2,000 and First Bank & Trust agreed to match $1,000.

Authorities say 34-year-old Steen was injured after he was run over by a suspect two weeks ago.

Authorities say 25-year-old Rachel Coleman has been charged with drunken driving, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault on law enforcement, vehicular battery, felony eluding and felony hit-and-run.
