Things to remember

SHOPPING EVENT PLANNED AT LOCAL CHURCH: “Ladies Day Out” at Trinity will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mitchell.Soup and sandwiches will be served and a free will donation will be accepted. There will items for shopping. Proceeds will support “Feeding SD” and “Weekend Snack Pack Program.

SALEM CHURCH HAS BAZAAR: St. Mary’s Church Bazaar will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at the National Guard Armory, Salem.There will be a hot turkey dinner served from11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Games will be available as well as silent auctions and raffles.

SOUP DINNER SCHEDULED FOR DANTE: The annual soup dinner will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary church, Dante.There will also be bingo and games for all ages.

POTATOES AT PARKSTON CHURCH: A baked potato meal will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Sacred Heart Parish Center, Parkston.A free will offering will be accepted.

WESSINGTON SPRINGS SETS POTATO SUPPER: A baked potato supper sponsored by the Eastern Star of Wessington Springs, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Masonic Center, Wessington Springs. A free will offering will be accepted with proceeds going to the Wessington Springs new Masonic Center building fund.

The decision to replace the 70 year old stadium at Joe Quintal Field was announced on this date in 2009 by Supt. Joe Graves. The time was deemed right to replace the stadium which was showing signs of deterioration, because current construction costs were reasonable and lines of credit were available.
