DWU golf signs Michael Whitney

Dakota Wesleyan University golf coach Adam Anderson announced the signing of Michael Whitney this week.

Whitney, of Brandon, will join the Tiger men’s golf team beginning in the fall of 2013 and joins fellow recruit Cal Weise, of Howard, who signed earlier this fall.

Whitney helped the Lynx to two Eastern South Dakota Conference titles and placed 27th at this year’s Class AA State Golf Tournament.

Mitchell’s Alm ties team block record

Taylin Alm tied a Mitchell High School volleyball block record against the Brookings Bobcats Thursday in Mitchell.

Alm recorded eight blocks, which ties her for the number of blocks in a single game with three past Kernel players.

She shares the record with Dana Misiaszek, Kayla Haines and Melinda Oster.
