LETTER: Bill Van Gerpen ‘excellent choice’ for SD Legislature

To the Editor:

Bill Van Gerpen would be an excellent choice for the senator to serve our area. He has had experience, and the Van Gerpen name is recognized as good citizens and several members of his family have served in the Legislature. It also would be nice to have the clergy represented in our state senate.

I feel our area is opposed to abortion (same as murder). About 4,000 babies per day are killed by abortion in this country. Our president and vice president both favor abortion, plus samesex marriage.

I will not vote for anyone that helps the promoters of killing innocent, unborn babies. These unborn suffer during the abortion procedure. Do you realize our government now makes it legal to kill the baby and doctors can collect a fee for doing it?

Do you realize the humane laws are stricter about killing animals in a slaughter house than they are for killing a baby?

I happen to be the grandfather to a 31-year-old granddaughter who came to us from Korea at age four months. She joined our family because her mother chose life even though she had to give her up because of finances. This young lady is now a mother. I cannot explain how she has enriched my life.

I trust Bill Van Gerpen. He tells the truth.
