MCHS goes 1-1 to pick up 3rd win
The Mitchell Christian volleyball team hosted Freeman Academy and James Valley Christian in a triangular volleyball match Tuesday, going 1-1 on the evening.
The Mitchell Christian volleyball team hosted Freeman Academy and James Valley Christian in a triangular volleyball match Tuesday, going 1-1 on the evening.
In the first match of the night, James Valley Christian defeated Freeman Academy in straight sets. Set scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-8.
Jaclyn Loban led the Vikings with 12 kills while Ariana Zucaro added 10. Kristen Williams led defensively with 14 digs. Zuccaro had 12 digs and Tara Nihart added nine. Nihart recorded 24 assists in the win and served five aces. Betsy nelson served four aces.
Hannah Yoder led the Bobcats with four kills and seven digs. Lea Graber added seven digs and Meghan Hofer added five. Clara Koerner had two blocks. Brooklyn Ries served four aces.
Mitchell Christian topped Freeman Academy 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23 in the night’s second match.
Ellie Bleeker led the Eagles with eight kills, 20 digs and seven service aces. Emily Reynen, Abbie Reynen and Brittany Zoss each recorded four kills in the win. Zoss recorded 19 digs, Emily Reynen had 15 digs and Emily Schrag added 12. Schrag also had 15 set assists. Emily and Abbie Reynen each recorded two digs.
Yoder had 18 kills and eight digs to lead Freeman Academy. Clara Koerner recorded nine digs and 10 blocks. Yoder and Brooklyn Ries each served four aces.
Mitchell Christian fell to James Valley Christian in straight sets to end the night. Set scores were 25-12, 25-14, 25-19.
Nihart led the Vikings with 20 set assists, nine kills and two service aces. Jaclyn Loban recorded eight kills and 20 digs. Hannah Loban had 16 digs and Ariana Zuccaro added 14.
Bleeker had four kills and 11 digs in the Eagles’ second match. Emily Reynen and Destiny Reimnitz each recorded three kills and 13 digs. Reynen had two blocks. Schrag tallied 10 set assists. Abbie Reynen served two aces.
Mitchell Christian is 3-17 this season and plays in a District 10B first-round match Tuesday. Freeman Academy is 2-15 to end the regular season.
