Additional charges filed against Laurie Cournoyer

WAGNER — A 29-year-old woman arrested in July who allegedly failed to report the death of a 2-year-old girl found dead at her home in a Wagner tribal housing project for nearly two days now faces additional drug charges.

WAGNER — A 29-year-old woman arrested in July who allegedly failed to report the death of a 2-year-old girl found dead at her home in a Wagner tribal housing project for nearly two days now faces additional drug charges.

Laurie Cournoyer was indicted today and charged with one count of possession of certain unauthorized articles in jail and one count of possession of methamphetamine, both felonies, and one count of ingesting methamphetamine, a misdemeanor.

She faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for possession of meth, a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine for possession of unauthorized articles in jail, and a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine for allegedly ingesting meth.

Other charges against Cournoyer are still pending. She is already charged with one count of abuse or cruelty to a minor, a felony for which she faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine, and one count of failure to notify law enforcement of the death of a child, for which she faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

She is scheduled to appear in court for a motions hearing later this week.
