Wagner claims SESD Conference volleyball title

TYNDALL — Wagner volleyball team won the Southeast South Dakota conference tournament defeating Platte-Geddes and Chamberlain in the championship bracket Saturday in Tyndall.

TYNDALL — Wagner volleyball team won the Southeast South Dakota conference tournament defeating Platte-Geddes and Chamberlain in the championship bracket Saturday in Tyndall.

After the first and second rounds, Platte-Geddes, Chamberlain and Wagner made it into the championship bracket. For complete results, see Page B2.

Wagner defeated both teams and went 4-0 in the tournament.

The Red Raiders defeated Chamberlain 25-21, 25-17 in the first match of the championship bracket.

Nicole Weber had eight kills, 14 digs and four aces. Gina Soukup and Kim Koupal each had six kills. Jessa Doom recorded 19 set assists, 14 digs and four aces and Sydney Breen tallied 10 digs.

Wagner beat Platte-Geddes 25-21, 25-19 in its final match of the tournament, giving it the conference title.

Weber had seven kills against PG. Koupal and Ali Kuca had added six kills apiece. Doom had 25 set assists and nine digs and Breen recorded eight digs.

The Red Raiders improved to 26-3 on the season and have their final regular season match against South Central at 6:30 p.m. today in Wagner.
