Firefighters responded to a small fire at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Trail King plant in Mitchell.
The fire damaged one of the dust collecting units outside the manufacturing plant’s main building, but firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading, according to Mitchell Firefighter Luke Ruml.
Filters inside the unit were smoldering, causing smoke to billow out, which set off fire alarms and sprinklers in the plant, Ruml said.
Employees were out of the building before firefighters arrived.
“Everybody was safe,” Ruml said.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes. The cause of the fire has not been determined and no damage estimate was immediately available.
