The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team lost in five sets to Morningside College Wednesday at the Christen Wellness Center in Mitchell.
The Tigers, who lost 25-12, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-9, dropped to 5-21 on the season and 1-8 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, while the Mustangs improved to 13-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
This was DWU’s fourth five-set match of the season, the team is 1-3 when going into a decisive set.
The Tigers had two players with double-digit kills as Danielle Bird led with 14 and Rachel Tinklenberg had 10. Bird also added 16 digs, four blocks and one ace. Tinklenberg added five digs and three blocks.
Briana Jung recorded 35 set assists, 12 digs and one block in the loss and Elizabeth Mahsem added eight kills, two digs and four blocks.
DWU’s next action is against Nebraska Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Lincoln, Neb.
