Gladys Parsons, 91, Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell.
She was born on May 10, 1921.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
Gladys Mae Parsons was born in rural Presho to George and Hattie (Dittman) Ramser.
She attended country school and worked on the family farm.
Gladys worked as a nurse’s aide at the Pierre Hospital and was employed shortly in California.
After returning, she married Cecil E. Parsons on May 1, 1952.
They later made their homes in Canistota, Highmore, Kimball, Pukwana, Mount Vernon and Armour, later returning to Mount Vernon.
Gladys was a nurse’s aide at Storla Nursing Home from 1975 until its closure.
Her passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing her life are her seven children: Gloria (Terry) Heisinger, Mitchell; Mary (Dave) Koster, Thornton, Colo.; John (Joanne) Parsons, Fairfield, Calif.; Charlie (Jill), Lancaster, Mo.; Bob (Lisa) Parsons, Custer; Jim (Jill) Parsons, Mount Vernon; and Terry (Tammy) Parsons, Abilene, Texas; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil; four brothers: Chuck, Kenneth, Glen and Carl Ramser; three sisters: LaVonne Ehlers, Eleanora Olsen and Dorothy Scott; and a grandson, Gabe Parsons.
