RAPID CITY (AP) — A Rapid City police officer has received three staples for a head wound after being hit with a skateboard during a confrontation with two juvenile brothers.

Rapid City Police Department spokeswoman Tarah Heupel says officers responded Friday to a report that an allegedly intoxicated 15-year-old boy was assaulting his mother and two siblings.

Heupel tells the media that the boy resisted police and his 10-year-old brother then threw a metal bicycle peg, kicked one of the officers and hit the other in the head with a skateboard.

Both boys were taken to a juvenile services center.

Heupel says the 10-year-old is accused of assaulting a law officer and obstructing police. The 15-year-old is accused of simple assault, consumption of alcohol by a minor, and threatening law officers.
