An Emery man was arrested Oct. 4 after allegedly leaving the scene of a traffic crash in Mitchell with injured passengers in his vehicle.
Jordon Sehnert, 25, allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of East Green Drive and North Kimball Street and was involved in a crash, and then allegedly left the scene without reporting it to authorities. Sehnert also left behind injured passengers in his vehicle, court documents say.
Police later located Sehnert at his soon-to-be ex-wife’s house nearby the crash, court documents say. Sehnert’s blood alcohol content was found to be 0.95 shortly after the incident. The legal limit for driving in South Dakota is 0.08.
Sehnert is charged with hit-and-run causing an injury, a felony, as well as first-offense drunken driving and a stop-sign violation, both misdemeanors.
He faces a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine if convicted of the hit-and-run.
Sehnert is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
