A South Dakota man has pleaded guilty to assault and failing to register as a sex offender.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson announced Friday that 38-year-old Glen Eagle Thunder, of Lower Brule, pleaded guilty to the charges earlier in the week.

Prosecutors say Eagle Thunder failed to register as a sex offender following his conviction for abusive sexual contact. He faces 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the charge.

He also acknowledged consuming alcohol and striking a family member on June 22. He faces up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine for that charge.
