Area football roundup: Beavers shock Viborg-Hurley

HURLEY — Jake Paradeis and Tyler Pringle rushed 97 yards each to lead Hanson over Viborg-Hurley in a high school football game Friday.
The Beavers knocked off 9B’s No. 2-ranked Viborg-Hurley 38-20 on the road.
Hanson’s Mason Mayer rushed 76 yards on 19 carries for the Beavers. Jordan Marquardt rounded out the leading rushers with 69 yards on 12 carries.
Seth Tegethoff recorded 11 tackles to lead Hanson’s defense. Paradeis added 10 tackles while Marquardt and Mayer had nine tackles apiece.
The Beavers end the regular season at 4-4. They will play next in the first round of high school football playoffs.
Tyler Gerdes led Viborg-Hurley in rushing yards with 102 on 16 carries. Tyler Novak added 64 rushing yards on nine carries. Jack Huether was 5-of-15 passing for 85 yards and two interceptions.
Novak led the Cougars’ defense with seven tackles while Andrew Hora added four.
Viborg-Hurley is 5-2 this season and play Irene-Wakonda to end the regular season Thursday in Irene.

Ryne Johnson rushed 246 yards on nine carries for the Warbirds. Lorenzo Williams was 2-of-2 passing for 77 yards. Wolsey-Wessington is 6-1 this season and hosts Northwestern in its final regular season game Thursday in Wolsey.
Garret Lawson rushed for 31 yards on six carries for Plankinton. Kellam Karst was 2-of-4 passing for 39 yards. Nick Lawson and Garrett Lawson each had 2.5 tackles. Plankinton is 3-4 this season and plays at Warner Thursday.

Lane Thomas rushed 167 yards on five carries for Corsica/Stickney. Mason Van Vuuren had five carries for 113 yards. Adam Bormann was 3-of-6 passing for 78 yards. Thomas had seven tackles. Kardell Boomsma and Van Vuuren each had six tackles.

KADOKA — The Colome football team shut out Kadoka Area 26-0 to earn its sixth win of the season Friday in Kadoka.
Colome’s Terrance Kinzer had 21 attempts for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He also was 1-of-6 passing for 12 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Andrew Odden had 15 carries for 65 yards.
Brandon Hauf had eight carries for 33 yards and a touchdown, while Cohl Ratterman had one catch for 12 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Chase Hrabanek had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery to lead the Colome defense. Kinzer had 11 tackles and Lane Fawcett had two sacks. Ratterman added 10 tackles.
