The Mitchell Police Division is investigating an assault that took place shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the Budget Inn in Mitchell.

Mitchell Police Detective Lt. Don Everson said a 24-year-old man suffered cuts to his right forearm in an altercation with another man at the hotel, which is located on West Havens Avenue.

The 24-year-old man was treated and released Thursday from Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

Both men involved in the altercation are traveling construction workers and knew each other, Everson said.

Police are still conducting interviews with other witnesses to the incident, Everson said.

No one had been arrested in connection with the assault as of Thursday afternoon.

More details will be released once an arrest is made or the investigation is completed, Everson said.
