Ft. Thompson woman pleads guilty to manslaughter

FORT THOMPSON — A Fort Thompson woman pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter.

FORT THOMPSON — A Fort Thompson woman pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter.

Leigha R. Koster, 20, was driving drunk July 28 when she fled from police during a traffic stop, drove in excess of 100 mph, lost control of her vehicle and crashed. A passenger, Koster’s boyfriend, was killed in the crash.

She faces a maximum of eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was set for Jan. 7. Koster was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
