Things to remember

ROSARY CRUSADE SET FOR SATURDAY: The 2012 Public Square Rosary Crusade to pray for the nation will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, at the Visitors Park across from the Corn Palace, Mitchell.

In case of inclement weather, it will be in the Gathering Space at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchell.

HOWARD HOSTS DOLL SHOW: A doll show will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Sunrise Terrace Club House, Howard.

Today in local history

Developers of a property on First Avenue and Foster Street suggested on this date in 2010 that the business might house a casino. Nearby neighbors insisted that the casino plans should be stopped.

Doug Backlund, one of the developers, said a casino was not the only option being considered. Other ideas included a laundromat or car wash, along with the gasoline convenience store.
