Rosebud woman sentenced for theft from tribal program
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A Rosebud woman has been sentenced for stealing from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's child care services program.
Thirty-nine-year-old Tanya Walking Eagle pleaded guilty in July to a charge of theft from an Indian tribal organization. She was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to a month behind bars and three years on supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Walking Eagle also was ordered to pay $30,304 in restitution.
