Involuntary manslaughter cases proceed in SD

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — One South Dakota man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and another has been sentenced on the same charge in separate cases.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 22-year-old Avery Hawk Wing, of Wounded Knee, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for a November 2011 incident in which the car he was driving recklessly rolled and killed a passenger. Hawk Wing pleaded guilty in January.

Forty-eight-year-old Mark Clairmont, of Norris, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a February crash in which authorities say he was driving drunk. That rollover also killed a passenger. Clairmont faces up to eight years in prison when he is sentenced next Jan. 2.
