Vera’s entire life was lived in Wessington Springs. She was born to William and Anna Adams. Her siblings were Marion, Bill, Bob, Lucille and Laverne. Years later her widowed mother married Chris Kent.
On Nov. 25, 1943, Vera married Lawrence Myers. They had five children: Larry, Gloria, John, Laura and Mary Ellen.
Vera was a talented creative active person until the later stages of Parkinson’s disease slowed her down. Not only did she teach in country schools near Wessington Springs as a young woman, but she also continued to “teach” neighborhood children in a myriad ways, often using games as a teaching method. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, a bowler, a seamstress, an athlete, a cook, a crocheter, a crafts woman and a seriously good card player.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Marji) Myers, Denver, Colo.; three daughters: Gloria (Gene) Fastnacht of Wessington Springs; Laura (Jim) Sletten of Elk River, Minn.; and Mary Burnison, Wessington Springs: seven grandchildren: Jeff Fastnacht, Seanna Regynski, Debby Bower, Jody Myers, Athena Burnison, Will and Becca Sietten; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bogb Adams of Seattle, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and step father; her husband; her infant son, John; two sisters and two brothers.
