DWU women in 9th after day one of final fall event

OKLAHOMA CITY — Lauren Fitts shot an 81 for Dakota Wesleyan’s best score as the Tigers finished day one in ninth place at the Oklahoma City Stars Fall Classic women’s golf tournament Monday in Oklahoma City.
Fitts’ score has her tied for 28th in the individual standings. Lubbock Christian University’s Annah Schopp and Wayland Baptist University’s Sarah Helly recorded the top scores of the day, each finishing with a 72.
The Tigers finished with a team score of 338 on day one. Chelsea Burback carded an 83 for DWU, while Jenna Winckler shot an 85, Natalie Turner shot an 89 and Talia Peters took a 91.
Lubbock Christian leads the event heading into the final day with a team total of 301. The tournament, which is the last on the Dakota Wesleyan women’s teams’ fall schedule, concludes today in Oklahoma City.
