3 fallen South Dakota firefighters remembered
RAPID CITY (AP) — Three South Dakota firefighters who died on the job last year have been remembered at a national ceremony.
RAPID CITY (AP) — Three South Dakota firefighters who died on the job last year have been remembered at a national ceremony.
The annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service was held on Sunday at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md. The media reports that 85 names were added to the memorial, including Trampus Haskvitz, Jacob Waldner and William Waldner.
Haskvitz died while fighting a Black Hills forest fire in August 2011. The Waldners died in an explosion in September 2011 while helping fight a coal bin fire at the Sunset Hutterite Colony.
More than 6,000 people attended Sunday's service.
