Compost site hours, curbside leaf pick-up announced for Mitchell

Beginning today and continuing through the leaf season, the City of Mitchell compost drop off site will be open 4:30 p.m. to sunset Monday through Friday, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays for the drop-off of compost.

Compost may also be taken to the landfill free of charge Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The City of Mitchell will provide a special leaf collection beginning Monday, Oct. 15, running through Nov. 16. Leaves will be collected curbside on the same day as garbage collection. Leaves must be placed in compostable yard waste bags or in a green waste cart.
