Thomas A. Clark, regional president and CEO, Avera Queen of Peace Region, was recently appointed to a three-year term on the South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care Board.
The South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation after approval by the South Dakota State Medical Association. Its purpose was to organize and operate a peer review system to provide objectivity and analysis of quality and utilization of health services.
The SDFMC contracts with the federal government to promote quality health care services for Medicare beneficiaries. In addition, SDFMA provides information to Medicare beneficiaries on the QIC (Quality Improvement Organization) program, the Medicare beneficiaries rights under the QIC program, and how their rights may be exercised. SDFMC has a contract with the South Dakota Department of Social Services to review the care provided to Medicaid recipients in South Dakota.
