LETTER: Right of choice does not include taking life
Abortion is without question the taking of another life and violating another person.By: Jed N. Hockett, Mitchell
To the Editor:
The master of the universe has given both male and female the “right of choice.” Many would call it free will. To that specific truth I would like to reaffirm that every woman has a right of choice concerning the issues of her body. That would include a woman’s choice of contraception prior to conception. The right of choice does not extend to the life and body of others. Abortion is without question the taking of another life and violating another person — one who is dependent on you.
Life begins at conception. How have the masses come to believe that a woman has the right to take a life just because that other life is within her womb? Abortion must be recognized as it really is — the termination of a life.
Medical personnel love to talk about the termination of a pregnancy and to use medical terms for a baby such as fetus, but we are talking about a life and living soul. Those who practice abortion for any purpose other than to save life must forever live with the knowledge that they have willfully, volitionally taken life. Who will join in renouncing all practice by politicians to mask this most heinous and evil practice under the terminology of a “woman’s right to choose”? Who will join me in intercessory prayer for a great awakening to occur in this republic which was once a nation under God?
A godly nation does not violate the existence of the innocent. This ethic goes beyond Christianity and the roots itself in the God of Israel. True and genuine Christians can do no less than reject with everything that is in them all forms of inhumanity especially to those who are the most vulnerable: the elderly and the unborn.
As election time approaches, I for one will not and have never voted for a politician who believes it’s OK for a woman to take the life of another. Who will join me?
