AREA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Serr scores five times in South Central's win
ARMOUR — Turner Serr had a huge game in South Central’s 52-14 rout of Tripp-Delmont/Armour Friday night in high school football action. Serr had a hand in five touchdowns, including four rushing scores and one passing. He helped the Cougars move to 3-3 on the season.

Serr had a hand in five touchdowns, including four rushing scores and one passing. He helped the Cougars move to 3-3 on the season.
Serr finished with 173 rushing yards on 15 carries and added nine tackles to lead the defense. Serr was 2-of-4 passing for 38 yards. Garret Bruns had 153 rushing yards on 11 carries and 22 yards on one reception. Levi Schonebaum had one reception for 16 yards. Sam Hazen added eight tackles.
TDA was led by Brett Blume with 12 rushing yards on six carries and 4-of-11 completed passes for 77 yards. Gunnar Dally was 4-of-11 passing for 43 yards. Shane Koster had 46 yards on three receptions. Cody Hrdlicka had 24 yards on two receptions. Blume had seven tackles. Brice Caery and Gunnar Dally each had six tackles.
South Central plays Kimball/White Lake Friday in White Lake, while TDA is 1-6 and plays at Gregory Oct.18.

CORSICA — Adam Bormann completed 4 of 5 passes for 149 yards to lead Corsica/Stickney over Avon 52-0 Friday. The game ended early due to the mercy rule.
Mason Van Vuuren was the leading rusher for Corsica/Stickney with 11 carries for 143 yards. Bormann added 72 yards on 13 carries. Lane Thomas led the defense with 16 tackles. Cameron Kostal had 12 tackles and James Fleming added 10. Corsica/Stickney recorded 484 total offensive yards.
Corsica/Stickney is 4-2 and plays Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central in Stickney.
Avon’s leading rusher was Devin Tolsma with 13 carries for 47 yards. Logan Mudder was 2-of-6 passing for 22 yards. Tolsma led the team with 10 tackles. Kole Beeson had eight tackles and Taylor Mudder added five tackles.
Avon is 4-3 and hosts Marty Friday.

MARTY — Andes Central recorded 335 total offensive yards in a 46-8 victory over Marty Indian Friday.
Andes Central had 306 rushing yards and 29 yards passing in the win. The Eagles’ leading rusher was Zach Cournoyer, who had seven carries for 62 yards. Gabe Cournoyer was 1-of-2 passing for 20 yards. Joey Evans was 1-of-1 passing for eight yards. Aaron Swanson recorded 20 yards on one catch. Darrin Hopkins blocked a punt which Swanson recovered and ran in for a touchdown. Zach Cournoyer was the leading tackler for the Eagles with five solo tackles and seven assists.
Marty recorded 19 yards rushing and 129 yards passing for 148 total offensive yards. Randall Bohn was the leading rusher for the Braves with seven carries for 17 yards. Chris BadHand was 10-of-23 passing for 129 yards.
Andes Central is 4-2 this season and hosts Gregory Friday in Lake Andes. Marty is 1-5 this season and plays at Avon Friday.

PARKSTON — Parkston improved to 4-2 this season with a 28-7 victory over Bon Homme Friday.
Chase Stoebner rushed eight times for 89 yards for the Trojans. Henry Wegehaupt rushed 12 times for 40 yards and Miles Semmler rushed 11 times for 38 yards. Zach Scott was 2-of-4 passing for 12 yards. Semmler had six tackles while Brady Reiff and Parker Van Zee had five tackles each.
Bon Homme’s Blase Vanacek was 11-of-25 passing for 140 yards with two interceptions. Sawyer Fridrich had four catches for 41 yards and Cody Larson had four catches for 49 yards. Alex Webber had 9.5 tackles. Scott Weisler added seven tackles and Vanacek had 6.5 tackles.
Parkston hosts Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian Friday, while Bon Homme (3-3) plays at Flandreau Friday.

Lumpkin recorded 13 carries and five touchdowns. Hayden Hooks had 13 tackles and Alex Babcock had 10 tackles.

Fritz completed 3 of 3 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns for the Warriors. Isiah Old Lodge had three receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Scott Assman had seven tackles and Meyer and Naasz recorded six tackles apiece in the win.
Chamberlain’s Russell Felicia had nine carries for 26 yards. Quarterback Chris Schwartz was 3-of-7 in passing for seven yards and had three interceptions in the loss.

HOWARD — Howard recorded 330 rushing yards in its 33-6 victory over Hanson in high school football action Friday in Howard.
The Tigers recorded 354 total offensive yards and Hanson totaled 238 yards rushing and 10 yards passing.
Howard’s Cole Potter had 10 carries for 116 yards. Evan Donahue had 11 rushes for 91 yards and Luke Loudenburg had 14 carries for 74 yards. James Jungwirth had 12 tackles in the win. Donahue recorded 11 tackles and an interception.
Hanson’s Jordan Marquardt had 14 carries for 86 yards in the loss. Marquardt also had an interception. Jacob Paradeis carried the ball 18 times for 78 yards. Ryan Guericke had six tackles and Mason Mayer recorded six tackles.

Andrew Taggart recorded 49 yards on two receptions. Beck led the defense with 10 tackles and one sack. Zach Sengelmann had nine tackles and Bartling added eight.

SALEM — After a scoreless first quarter, Garretson scored four times to defeat McCook Central/Montrose 29-0 in a Big East Conference football game Friday.
Garretson’s leading rusher was Matt Johnson who rushed for 100 yards on 14 carries. Patrick Whetham was 6-of-9 passing for 120 yards.
Garretson held McCook Central/Montrose to just 41 total rushing yards and five total passing yards. Brandon Reif went 1-of-5 passing for five yards. Corwin Coldman and Tyler Cleveland each recorded eight tackles. Tim Gassman had seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Will Gottlob had seven tackles.
