A Parkston man arrested in March after Mitchell police found methamphetamine in his car was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison.

Charles Paul Clark, 28, pleaded guilty June 12 to possession of meth. The charges stem from a March 16 traffic stop in which Mitchell police found paraphernalia in his passenger’s purse and meth inside a cooler in the car.

The passenger, Rachel Lorraine Herman, 25, also pleaded guilty to possession of meth.

Assistant Attorney General Katie Mallery told the court this is Clark’s ninth felony conviction and requested he be sentenced to five years in prison. Judge Rodney Steele sentenced Clark to five years in prison with credit for the 19 days he has served in jail.
