Mitchell firefighter-paramedics who saved the life of Ethan resident Darrel Semmler were thanked Monday at the Mitchell fire station with colorful star quilts handmade by Flo Semmler’s cousin Alma Small, of Winner.

Semmler was working on his mother’s roof July 21 when he collapsed from a heart condition and received treatment and transport by emergency responders from Mitchell.

The Semmlers also honored firefighter-paramedics Doug Glover, Justin Adams and Jacob Myers with quilts for helping with a quick response that saved Semmler’s life.

The first responders also received a “Star of Life” EMT logo that Roubideaux, a part-time artist, etched in a mirror to show her appreciation for the responders who saved her stepdad’s life. The mirror has a place of honor in the firehouse office.
