Howard man claims $10,000 Powerball prize

Tony Schwader won the money in the Sept. 5 drawing.

PIERRE (AP) — A Howard man has claimed a $10,000 Powerball prize.

South Dakota lottery officials say Tony Schwader won the money in the Sept. 5 drawing. He hit the game's third prize when his ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball. The odds of winning the prize are one in about 649,000.

The Corner Pantry in Howard will get a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Powerball is played in most states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot for the Wednesday drawing sits at $149 million.
