FINANCIAL PROGRAM OFFERED AT LOCAL CHURCH: Trinity Lutheran Church will offer “Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University” program beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the church.

HAWAIIAN PROM TO BE HELD: James Valley Community Center is sponsoring “Hawaiian Prom 2012” from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at JVCC, Mitchell. Cost for the formal dress up evening is $4 at the door. There will be a 2012 Prom King and Queen crowned and a photographer will be available.

DUCKS UNLIMITED BANQUET SET: Mitchell Ducks Unlimited Fall Banquet will be on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Highland Conference Center, Mitchell. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The auction will follow. Tickets are available at Chamber of Commerce office.

Today in local history

A jury found on this date in 2010 that the liability insurer for Aurora County was not liable for damages likely to be incurred in a lawsuit by Thompson Farms.

The liability insurer, the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance, contended that the county did not notify the company far enough in advance of the lawsuit.
