After defeating Briar Cliff University 24-13 Saturday, the Dakota Wesleyan University football team moved to 19th in the NAIA football coaches’ poll, which was released Monday.
The Tigers, who were ranked No. 22 in last week’s poll, are 3-0 on the season and have a bye week before taking on Hastings College Sept. 29 in Hastings, Neb.
Mitchell boys’ soccer team falls

HURON — The Mitchell High School boys’ soccer team lost 4-0 to James Valley Christian Monday in Huron.
The Kernels return to action today to finish a game with Mitchell Christian/Mount Vernon. The game began on Sept. 4, but was stopped at half due to the weather. The game is scoreless and will begin with the start of the second half beginning at 6 p.m. today in Mitchell.
Kernels drop pair of tennis matches

ABERDEEN — The Mitchell High School girls’ tennis team dropped two matches Monday in Aberdeen.
The Kernels fell 9-0 to Aberdeen Roncalli before losing to Huron 5-4.
Courtney Wells picked up an 8-1 win in the No. 1 singles match against Huron, while Halle Larson was the other Mitchell player to win a singles match. Larson won in a tie-breaker with Alison Fenske in the No. 5 spot.
Haley Smith and Grace Grabenstein teamed up for an 8-5 win at the No. 2 doubles spot, while Sammy Pooley and Allison Buckley picked up a win in the No. 3 doubles spot for the Kernels.
Mitchell dropped to 2-15 on the season and takes on Madison at 4 p.m. today in Madison.
