Mitchell man arrested for child sexual contact

A 54-year-old Mitchell man was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sexual contact with a 6-year-old developmentally disabled girl at his home earlier this year.

A 54-year-old Mitchell man was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sexual contact with a 6-year-old developmentally disabled girl at his home earlier this year.

Mark Elliot Johnson is charged with sexual contact with a child younger than 16. He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine if convicted of the felony. Police say Johnson had sexual contact with a 6-year-old developmentally disabled girl at his home, in an apartment complex at 900 W. Second Ave.

Johnson has two prior convictions for sexual contact with a child younger than 16.
