CARTHAGE — An Iroquois man died Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash two miles north of Carthage.
Curtis R. Wendel, 59, was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that left the roadway on a curve near the intersection with 220th Street, according to the Highway Patrol. The vehicle rolled into the west ditch. Wendel received fatal injuries in the crash.
Clint Frankfurth, 27, of Huron, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was uninjured. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, but both remained in the vehicle.
No further information was immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. The Miner County Sheriff’s Office and Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
